Product Introduction

Cermet is a hard material based on titanium carbide or titanium carbonitride bonded with a metal binder. Consequently, uncoated cermet end mills made from this material possess characteristics including high wear resistance, low reactivity with most workpieces and long tool life. They produce an excellent surface finish and maintain tight tolerances over their lifetime. Higher cutting speeds can be accomplished with cermet milling cutters, especially for semi-finishing to finishing operations, because of their high wear resistance.

Advantage

High hardness, good wear resistance; no coating, can be reground, long service life; high temperature resistance, no grinding fluid, can be dry cutting; not easy to produce chip accretion, to achieve mirror effect.

Usage

It is suitable for high speed machining of steel parts, especially die steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and non-ferrous metal. Suitable for processing aluminum alloy and other easily bonded materials.

Others

Accept non-standard size customization.

Application

Traditionally, ideal applications for uncoated cermet end mills include finishing and semi-finishing at higher speeds, lower feeds and depths of cut. CNC machining centers are the most common cermet milling cutter applications because they maintain dimensions and maintain tight tolerances.

Cermet cutters can also be considered for finish milling, they offer better finish and dimensional control than carbide. Tool costs can be significantly reduced when milling with cermet mills because they can operate at higher cutting speeds than carbide and they have a longer tool life. In some cases, they can eliminate grinding or polishing operations. When it comes to the mold industry specifically, cermet end mills are used to mill molds and molds for applications such as vehicle transmission parts, brake drums and rotors, rear differential housings, body panel molds, and more.
